Trash the Dress

Welcome to the Trash the Dress page.

Trash the Dress started in 2001 by Las Vegas wedding photographer John Michael Cooper as a style of
wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of place.
Generally shot in the style of fashion and glamour photography.

It is usually done as an additional shoot after the wedding, almost as a declaration that the wedding is done
and the dress will not be used again. It is seen as an alternative to storing the dress away,
never to be seen again. And a great opportunity for the bride and groom to capture the fusion of their lives
and personalities in a radical photo shoot.

This trend has now taken off in South Africa. Guava Graphics teamed up with professional photographer
Pauline Niehaus for an awesome Trash the Dress shoot in Bloubergstrand Cape Town in 2009.

In February 2010 we filmed another Trash the Dress in Camps Bay, Cape Town. See the video below.

It is not compulsary for the bride to completely destroy her dress, with the help of the photographer, you can
work out something that suits your personality and style! As long as you have fun doing it!
